"Regarding the recent announcement by Nijmegen4Palestine about potential peaceful demonstrations during the 4Days Marches and the establishment of a non-violent civilian patrol, Mayor Bruls has just released a statement. In addition, on behalf of the organization of the 4Days Marches, I would like to make the following declaration:

We have learned that Nijmegen4Palestine plans to monitor possible Israeli participants along the route of the 4Days Marches (whether or not they are connected to the Israeli military or not) with the aim of keeping an eye on these participants and requesting them to leave the city. We have also received messages from concerned walkers and spectators about these announced actions.

I want to clarify that there is no Israeli military delegation present during the 4Days Marches. This delegation last participated in 1965. However, there are a few civilian participants with the Israeli nationality.

The 4Days Marches has regulations that prohibit political expressions statements during the event. Our event is all about fraternity and solidarity.
We are in close consultation with the municipalities and security agencies. Together, we have the necessary knowledge and expertise to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.

I urge everyone to respect the 4Days Marches as a sporting event that brings people from all over the world together in an atmosphere of peace and solidarity."

On behalf of the board and organization of Stichting DE 4DAAGSE,

Prof. Mr. H.J.B. (Henny) Sackers
