Extra registration period will open 4 April
There will be no need for a draw among the participants in the 104th 4Days Marches this year. Almost 42,000 walkers have registered and, provided they pay the registration fee, they are guaranteed a place at the starting line on 19 July 2022. An extra registration period will open on 4 April for the remaining tickets.
Not unexpected
Over the next few days, the exact number of registrations will be determined. It is clear that there were around 7000 fewer registrations than the limit of 49,000 during the first period from 14 February to 25 March. The Board of Stichting DE 4DAAGSE is happy that every who has registered so far is guaranteed participation and that no draw will be needed for the 104th 4Days Marches. “We’d of course hoped for more registrations,” explains march coordinator Henny Sackers. “But the reduced interest was not entirely unexpected. Other events, theatres and museums are also seeing COVID-19 still playing a role, and we appreciate people’s concerns. Nonetheless, we are delighted to have so many enthusiastic walkers sign up.”
Extra registration period
Even so, Stichting DE 4DAAGSE has decided to open an extra registration period. This extra registration period was taken into account in preparing the Restriction Protocol and will open at 10.00 hrs on Monday 4 April. Anyone who is interested but had not yet registered for whatever reason will now have the chance to do so until 17.00 hrs on Friday 29 April or until the limit of 49,000 is reached. So this extra registration will work on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning that participation is guaranteed upon registration and payment.
“We can organise a fine event with 42,000 walkers,” says Sackers. “But there’s enough space, so we’d like to offer the walkers who were initially hesitant the opportunity to take part after all. Of course, with the extra benefit of not having to take part in a draw.”
Registration fee
The registration fee for participation in the 104th 4Days Marches is €104. Members of the Dutch walking association KWBN who have a ‘Wandelvoordeelpas’ for 2022 will get €5 off.
